The University of Miami is committed to a culture of belonging and our values of diversity, integrity, responsibility, excellence, creativity, compassion, and teamwork. Along with fostering respect for the differences among people, we are happy to share tools and features to reinforce our commitment to providing an inclusive working environment for all employees.

These features are optional, and data gathered will continue to evolve over time to enhance our support for all community members. The information you provide will help us evaluate the effectiveness of our equal opportunity programs and support a diverse and inclusive environment.

If you have any questions about the self-identification process, please contact Human Resources Workplace Equity and Inclusion office at wei@miami.edu.

  • Workday

Display a pronoun, gender identity, or identification as a member of the LGBTQ+ community with your profile on Workday through the Personal Information worklet. Faculty and staff will have the opportunity to self-identify their pronouns, gender identity, and affiliation with the LGBTQ+ community. Since this information is voluntary, individuals may also choose to select 'prefer not to answer' or not respond to the questions.

To update your personal information, please review instructions in Workday. All fields to private visibility. However, you may choose to change the visibility of pronouns to public (only in Workday) if you desire. Learn more

  • Zoom

Update your pronoun in Zoom. Zoom profile pronouns are visible to your Zoom contacts as part of your Zoom profile card in the Zoom desktop client and mobile app.

Zoom regularly provides new versions of the Zoom desktop client and mobile app to release new features and fix bugs. We recommend upgrading to the latest version when it is available to receive the best video and audio experience

You can also choose when or if your pronouns are shown during a meeting that you host or join, or webinar that you are the host or panelist for. Webinar attendees’ pronouns are never visible. Click here for detailed information on adding and sharing pronouns in Zoom.

  • Name Tags, Business Cards and Email Signature

Add your pronouns to business cards, name tags (not access cards) and email signatures.

The recommended placement of pronouns is directly below your name.
